Subject Description
In addition to the variety of transfusion safety initiatives that the TSO can oversee, many hospitals have made Patient Blood Management (PBM) the central role of the TSO. Given their large scope and expertise, TSOs are well-suited for developing and implementing PBM programs. This portion of the TSO Training Program will focus on setting up the TSO for success in setting up a PBM program.

- Describe the process of building and implementing a PBM program
- Identify the composition and function of a transfusion committee
- Develop metrics useful to the TSO in a PBM program
- List blood product and technological innovations that can enhance PBM programs
